I have been serving in Streetbite since 2018 and find it an extremely meaningful and energetic group: to really walk out of my comfort zone of academic dialogue and know more about the Cambridge town.

Shikha - Undergraduate

I started volunteering at the Streetbite Society when I came to Cambridge three months ago. Interactions with those who live on the streets has been very enriching and has made me see a side of Cambridge which I would never have imagined otherwise. The friendliness and warmth of the volunteers and the great conversations I had with people during my trolley shifts are something which I will always cherish.

Chrissie - Undergraduate

Last term I decided to take part in Streetbites trolley shifts, I was nearly homeless myself a few years ago so wanted to provide some kind of help to those who weren’t as fortunate as me. Hearing people’s stories can be challenging at times but seeing those people come to life when you engage in conversation is something you couldn’t put money on. For most, it’s not about the food or the hot drink, it’s about being spoken to like a human being and being able to make that difference in the space of two hours to multiple people is the most humbling and rewarding experience.
